A troubadour of the first degree, Matt has been bringing his songs of bus-stops, coffee-shops and lives overlooked to stages across his home-state of Texas, the USA and Europe. He has won songwriting awards from American Songwriter and Billboard, and was named Singer-Songwriter of the Year in the 2013 by the Texas Muisic Awards.

Weaving sophisticated harmonies through his songs and drawing from various genres, Shake created a style of folk-rock that is uniquely his own. His lyrics are imbued with beautiful imagery, catchy phrases, and inventive similes and metaphors. But it is the rich, melodious voice of Shake Russell that breathes life and spirit into the lyrics.

Carla Ulbrich is a comical singer-songwriter who is often compared to Tom Lehrer or Weird Al. She has a love of the absurdities of ordinary life, a somewhat twisted viewpoint, and a way with words. Carla has graced the stages of the Kerrville, Florida, South Florida, New Jersey, and the Turtle Hill Folk Festivals, as well as Seattle’s Moisture Festival. We are very happy and grateful to bring her back to the stage @ Millbend Coffeehouse.
