Richard Smith & Julie Adams
7:30pm, June 15th
Richard started learning finger-style guitar
from his father in England at age five. By age 11 he was
performing on-stage with his ‘hero’ Chet Atkins at Her
Majesty’s Theater in London, and amazing both the audience and
Chet with his ability to flawlessly play Chet’s famous
arrangements. By age 20 both Chet and Jerry Reed were calling
Richard ‘their’ hero - and he has a guitar with that
autographed inscription to prove it. Richard has since delved
far beyond the folk-country stylings of his roots, and no
matter what musical style he chooses to play, the artistry,
imaginative interpretation, and technical mastery are evident.
Richard has toured around the world, surprising audiences
everywhere with his genius, showcasing a repertoire spanning
an incredible range of musical styles from country, bluegrass,
mainstream jazz, modern pop and rock, to classical guitar. He
met his wife and soul-mate, acclaimed cellist Julie Adams, on
a trip to America, and they have developed a musical synergy
that is both impressive and highly entertaining. This concert
will feature two musicians in their prime doing what they do
best—sharing their musical vision with an audience. Don’t miss
this one!
“The most amazing guy I know on the guitar. He
can play anything I know, only better.” - Chet Atkins
